How to Disable Scheduler Service on Windows 2008 Server

Working with vulnerabilities scanning might force you to disable the scheduler service. if you go to windows services applet to disable it you will find it greyed and feel yourself helpless because few most important windows service require this service. You won’t be able to stop or disable this service directly from windows services applet. There are alternative ways available to do this task. There is a registry fix available to overcome this issue. follow under given instructions to fix this issue on your secure windows 2008 server. Most important things is to take the backup of your server’s registry before implementing this tweak. Better safe than sorry!!!.

Go to Run and enter regedit command to open the registry editor.

Go to under given registry key to change its value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Schedule

Find the Dword with the name of start and replace 2 with 4

restart the server and check. I hope this will help and save couple of minutes.
