There are no valid security settings to publish. Would you like to remove your previously published settings?

Email encryption is around for quite a some time and it must be used when you are sending a sensitive email. Everyone must get a certificate to encrypt the emails to secure from preying eyes. Outlook is a rich text email client with lots of features and you can use it to encrypt your emails. More importantly there is a very handy feature to publish that certificate centrally so that everyone can use it and send you the encrypted emails. It is to publish the certificate to GAL (Global Address List) on office365. Some time it can be a nightmare due to any reason to import the certificate in Outlook and publish it to GAL. There can be multiple reasons and one of them is when there are missing important and required parameters in certificate itself.  You have successfully imported the certificate in outlook but still getting an error “There are no valid security settings to publish”, it can annoying as well. more information about this issue is given in the picture below:

There are no valid security settings to publish

Under given is the path to import certificate in outlook:

Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings, select Email Security, under Digital IDs (Certificate), click Import/Export, try to import this certificate on this machine.

I checked the certificate that it has parameter about email authentication like given in the picture below:

There is a big chance this your certificate is having the above field and it should work but still its giving the above error means there is something else missing.

Solution!!!

In my case the email address of the user was missing from the certificate. that’s why I was getting error “There are no valid security settings to publish”. All what I did was, to request the CA management team to recreate the certificate and add the user email address exactly the same like email account and it started working without any problem. I hope it will help someone. keep visiting https://www.windowstechupdates.com.
