RAC0503: There are no out-of-band capable controllers to be displayed. Check if the host system is powered off or shutdown.
Dell Servers are my favorite to use. I like PowerEdge series very much. These servers provide the best performance and full control. You can deploy any type of application on these servers. The load can be measured and hardware can be easily upgraded. I got “RAC0503: There are no out-of-band capable controllers to be displayed. Check if the host system is powered off or shutdown” error on the iDRAC of the server while navigating to storage section.
I started the server, it was not able to initialize the disks. The DRAC login page was available and I was able to login to the server by using DRAC (Dell Remote Access Controller). All the hardware were normal on the server. The server was not showing any error on the startup.
I clicked on the storage of the server on iDRAC web page. The server gave me the under listed error:
RAC0503: There are no out-of-band capable controllers to be displayed. Check if the host system is powered off or shutdown.
I followed all the available post on internet but none of them worked for me. I tried under listed methods to fixed this issue:
- Installed the updated firmware for iDRAC
- Reset the iDRAC to its initial state
- Restart the server
- Shutdown the server for 20 minutes
- Pushed the power button for 15-20 Seconds
None of the above worked for me. Every time, the server started normally but without any signs of storage on it. The light of the hard drives blinked for once and after that nothing.
Solution!!!!
I removed all the power cables of the server. Pulled the server out of the rack and remove the chaises cover. I removed the RAID controller from the server motherboard and inserted it back. Started the server and voila, the server was back to normal and everything was cool for me again.
I had this issue with one of my server PowerEdge R720 and I just removed the card and put it back and I was good to go. Yes, it must be. SAS cables will work once the controller is back to normal work.
