How to reset Ubuntu root password?
Ubuntu is a very good variant of Linux family. It comes with great features. The security of this variant is really good. By default the root user of this variant comes with disabled mode. There might another possibility that user might lost his root password. in this way you need to reset Ubuntu root password. if you need to enable the root user, you have to reset Ubuntu root password. You cannot change the password of root from an ordinary user. You need to put your system in maintenance mode and go to recovery console. Follow the under given steps to accomplish this task:
Restart your Ubuntu system and at startup go to Recovery Mode
once you selected the recovery mode, the system will load the recovery menu give as under:
The system will ask you to press enter or Control D to go to root recovery mode.
Now you need to mount the system in read and write mode to update the password of root user. Enter the under given command to accomplish this task.
mount -o rw,remount /
After entering the command, you will be able to reset the root password. Once you are done with the root user password reset, write exit and press enter. the system will take you back to the above recovery menu option screen. choose resume from the menu and you will go to normal system shell. user root as user name and your password to login.
